Grand Bavaro Princess Review - Punta Cana - My Full Experience

If you’re dreaming about a tropical escape in Punta Cana and want a resort that offers a little bit of everything—nature, comfort, great food, and plenty of activities—then let me walk you through what a stay at Grand Bavaro Princess is really like, based on my experience.

Lush resort courtyard with palm trees, a fountain in a pond, and people walking. White buildings and bright flowers create a tranquil vibe.

First Impressions: A Resort That Feels Like a Tropical Park - Grand Bavaro Princess

One of the first things that stood out to me when I arrived at Grand Bavaro Princess is how green and open everything feels. This isn’t one of those resorts where buildings are packed tightly together. Instead, it’s designed almost like an ecological park, with winding paths, palm trees everywhere, and lots of preserved natural vegetation.

As you move around the property, you’ll notice little details that make it feel more connected to nature—lush gardens, shaded walkways, and even the occasional sighting of local wildlife. It gives the whole resort a calm, laid-back vibe that instantly puts you into vacation mode.

Because the property is quite large, you’ll likely use the internal transportation (little carts that go around the resort), especially if your room is farther from the beach or main areas. Personally, I didn’t mind this at all—it actually adds to the experience and makes the resort feel like a mini destination on its own.

Rooms & My Stay in a Platinum Suite

A serene bedroom at Grand Bavaro Princess with a white bed, purple pillows, and geometric wall art. Soft lighting and white columns create a calm ambiance.

The resort has over a thousand rooms, but don’t let that number intimidate you. They’re spread out across the property in a way that still feels peaceful and not overcrowded.

During my stay, I had a Platinum Suite, and I can honestly say it made a noticeable difference in the overall experience. If you’re debating whether to upgrade—this is where I’d say it’s worth it.

The room itself was spacious, clean, and well-designed for a comfortable stay. You have everything you need: a large bed, sitting area, bathroom with all the essentials, and a balcony or terrace where you can relax and enjoy the tropical surroundings.

What really sets the Platinum level apart, though, is the added level of service and exclusivity. It just feels a bit more elevated—whether that’s through access to certain areas, more personalized service, or simply a quieter atmosphere in some parts of the resort.

If you’re going as a couple or just want a more relaxing and upgraded experience, I’d definitely recommend choosing a Platinum Suite.

A Food Lover’s Paradise: So Many Options

Wooden deck with white chair and closed umbrella. A tree with red flowers overhangs. Modern building across a pond, lush greenery.

Let’s talk about food—because this is something people always ask about when it comes to all-inclusive resorts.

At Grand Bavaro Princess, you’re definitely not limited. There’s a wide variety of dining options, and what I liked most is that you can switch things up every day depending on your mood.

You have:

  • Multiple themed à la carte restaurants

  • Several buffets

  • A snack bar for quick bites

  • A food truck area (which adds a fun, casual vibe)

  • A coffee shop for your morning (or afternoon) caffeine fix

  • And plenty of bars spread throughout the resort

Dining Experience: What It’s Really Like

One of the biggest highlights of staying at Grand Bavaro Princess is the variety of food options. What I personally loved is that you’re never stuck eating the same thing every day—there’s always something new to try depending on your mood.

Here’s a breakdown of the restaurants I experienced and what they’re like:

La Hispaniola Buffet

This is one of the main buffet restaurants at the resort and where you’ll probably start your day with breakfast.

It offers a wide variety of options—from fresh fruit and pastries to hot dishes and made-to-order stations. It’s convenient, easy, and perfect when you want something quick without overthinking it. For lunch and dinner, you’ll also find a rotating selection, so it doesn’t feel repetitive.

Trapiche Buffet (Near the Beach)

Located closer to the beach, Trapiche has a more relaxed, casual vibe compared to the main buffet.

This is the kind of place you go when you don’t want to change out of your beach clothes. It’s perfect for a laid-back lunch between swimming and sunbathing. The atmosphere is breezy and open, which makes it feel very “vacation mode.”

Il Tartufo Italian Restaurant

If you’re in the mood for Italian, Il Tartufo is a great option for a sit-down dinner.

The ambiance is more elegant and ideal for a quieter evening. You can expect classic Italian dishes like pasta, and it’s a nice change from buffet dining. It feels a bit more like a proper dinner experience rather than a quick meal.

Wasabi Restaurant (Sushi & Fusion)

Wasabi offers a mix of sushi and Asian fusion dishes.

This one stands out because it’s a bit different from the typical all-inclusive options. If you’re craving something lighter or just want a break from heavier meals, this is a great choice. The sushi selection adds a nice variety to your overall dining experience.

Samsara Indian Restaurant

Samsara brings Indian cuisine into the mix, which I always find exciting at a resort.

The flavors are richer and more aromatic compared to other restaurants, so it’s definitely worth trying if you enjoy spice and something a bit different. It’s not something you find at every resort, so it adds to the overall variety.

La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant

For Mexican food, La Hacienda is a fun and vibrant option.

The atmosphere is lively, and the menu includes familiar Mexican dishes. It’s a great place for a casual dinner, especially if you’re going with friends or just want something flavorful and satisfying.

Café del Mar (Gourmet Experience)

If you’re looking for something a little more refined, Café del Mar offers a more gourmet-style experience.

This is where you go when you want a quieter, more upscale dinner during your stay. It feels more exclusive and is perfect for a date-night type of evening.

El Gaucho Steakhouse

For meat lovers, El Gaucho is definitely worth visiting.

This steakhouse offers a more classic dining experience, and it’s a solid choice when you’re in the mood for something hearty and satisfying. The atmosphere is warm and inviting—perfect for a relaxed dinner.

El Pescador (Seafood Restaurant)

El Pescador Restaurant

El Pescador focuses on fish and seafood, which feels very fitting given the Caribbean setting.

It’s a great option if you want something lighter and fresh. Dining here adds a nice variety to your meals throughout the week.

Rebels Bar (Sports Bar)

If you’re looking for something more casual, Rebels Bar is your go-to.

It has that sports bar atmosphere—perfect for grabbing a drink, watching a game, or having a relaxed meal. It’s also a good late-night option when you just want something easy and informal.

Overall Food Experience

What I appreciated most is that the resort doesn’t rely on just one type of dining. You can go from buffet to à la carte, from casual to more upscale, all within the same stay.

Is it ultra luxury dining? No—but it’s good, enjoyable, and offers enough variety to keep things exciting throughout your vacation.

Final Thoughts on Dining

Dining at Grand Bavaro Princess is all about options.

Some nights you’ll want something quick and easy, and other nights you’ll want a proper sit-down dinner—and here, you can do both without ever leaving the resort.

Spacious lounge with sofas and chairs in a wooden interior. Large windows reveal greenery. Lamps and decor create a cozy ambiance.

It really feels like a culinary journey because you’re not eating the same thing over and over again. One night you might go for something more elegant, and the next you just grab something quick and casual.

In terms of taste, I would describe the food as good and enjoyable. It’s not ultra high-end fine dining, but it’s flavorful, well-prepared, and offers enough variety to keep things interesting throughout your stay.

And honestly, that’s what matters most on vacation—you want options, convenience, and food you’ll actually enjoy.

Drinks & Bars: Always Something Nearby

Frappucino on the Beach at Grand Bavaro Princess

With around fifteen bars on the property, you’re never far from a drink—whether that’s a cocktail by the pool, something refreshing at the beach, or a coffee break in between activities.

I liked how easy it was to just grab something without having to go out of your way. The service was generally quick, and there’s a good variety of drinks depending on what you’re in the mood for.

Activities & Entertainment: As Busy (or Relaxed) as You Want

One of the things that makes this resort appealing to a wide range of travelers is how much there is to do.

If you’re someone who likes to stay active, you’ll find plenty of options:

  • Water sports

  • Beach volleyball

  • Tennis and basketball courts

  • A fully equipped gym

  • Group fitness classes like yoga, Zumba, and Pilates

Evening Shows at Grand Bavaro Princess

It’s nice because you can mix relaxation with activity—you’re not just lying on the beach all day (unless you want to, of course).

The resort also offers a full entertainment program, so there’s always something happening. Whether it’s daytime activities or evening shows, you can choose to participate or simply enjoy from the sidelines.

The Beach & Pool Experience

People relax on the sandy beach of Grand Bavaro Princess Hotel with turquoise water under a cloudy sky. Palm trees line the background. Soft, tranquil mood.

Of course, being in Bavaro Beach is a huge part of the experience.

The beach here is exactly what you picture when you think of Punta Cana—soft sand, turquoise water, and plenty of space to relax. It’s a great spot whether you want to swim, walk along the shore, or just sit back with a drink.

The pools are also well spread out, so you can usually find a spot that matches your vibe—whether that’s something more lively or a quieter area to unwind.

Spa & Relaxation

If relaxation is your priority, the spa area is definitely worth checking out.

It’s designed to be a calm, peaceful space where you can disconnect and recharge. Whether you go for a treatment or just want to enjoy a quieter environment, it adds another layer to the overall experience.

A Great Choice for Families

Even though I stayed in the Platinum category, which leans a bit more toward adults or couples looking for a quieter experience, this resort is also very well set up for families.

There’s a kids’ club with organized activities, which is perfect for keeping children entertained while parents get some time to relax.

They also offer childcare services (for an additional cost), which can be really helpful if you want to enjoy a dinner or activity on your own.

On top of that, there’s a dedicated Family Club area with features and services specifically designed for families traveling with kids. It’s a thoughtful addition that makes the resort more versatile and accessible for different types of travelers.

Service & Overall Atmosphere

One thing I always pay attention to when reviewing a resort is the overall atmosphere—and here, it’s very relaxed and welcoming.

Because the resort is so spread out and surrounded by nature, it never feels overly crowded or overwhelming, even though it’s quite large.

The staff are generally friendly and helpful, and while service can vary slightly depending on the area or time of day (which is normal for large resorts), the overall experience is positive.

Who Is This Resort Best For?

I’d say Grand Bavaro Princess is a great option for:

  • Couples who want a mix of relaxation and activities

  • Families looking for a kid-friendly all-inclusive

  • Groups of friends who want variety and entertainment

  • Travelers who enjoy a more natural, green resort setting

If you’re looking for ultra-luxury or a super boutique experience, this might not be the perfect fit. But if you want a well-rounded resort that offers good value, lots of options, and a beautiful tropical setting—it really delivers.

Final Thoughts: Is It Worth It?

Overall, my stay at Grand Bavaro Princess was a great experience, especially staying in a Platinum Suite.

What stood out the most to me was the balance this resort offers—it combines nature, comfort, variety, and entertainment in a way that works for different types of travelers.

You can spend your days doing activities, exploring the resort, and trying different restaurants… or you can slow everything down, relax by the beach, and just enjoy the surroundings.

And honestly, that flexibility is what makes a vacation truly enjoyable.

If you’re planning a trip to Punta Cana and want a resort where you have options, space, and a bit of everything, this is definitely one to consider—especially if you go for the Platinum upgrade for that extra level of comfort.
