Lobby First Impressions: Reception & Check-In As soon as I arrived, I could immediately feel the welcoming vibe. The reception area is grand yet cozy, with friendly staff ready to assist. The lobby has a cool mix of Caribbean charm and modern style, with wicker chairs, lush plants, and warm light spilling from woven baskets hanging from the vaulted ceiling. Check-in was smooth and relatively quick. My bags were taken care of, and within minutes, I was on my way to my room in one of the resort’s charming buildings. Throughout the resort, you’ll find lots of cool elements inspired by Taino Dominican culture . There are huge statues, a boat, and other artifacts scattered around, giving you a glimpse into the island’s rich history and heritage. It’s a fun way to connect with the local culture while enjoying your stay. I really liked how the hotel villas are laid out—it’s super relaxing. Between the buildings, there’s a narrow pool that looks like a little river, which gives the whole place a peaceful vibe. Plus, the lush greenery all around makes it feel tropical and private, like your own little escape. The Rooms: Spacious & Comfortable The hotel features 570 Deluxe Junior Suite rooms , all housed within charming three-story villas , offering comfort and style in a tropical setting. Room Types : Choose from the Junior Suite Deluxe  for a comfortable stay, the Connecting Junior Suite Deluxe  if you need extra space, or the Junior Suite Deluxe Swim Up  for easy access to a pool right from your room. The room was exactly what you’d expect from a luxury resort—spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated with Caribbean-inspired touches. The rooms feature a fresh, modern look with a calming beige and white colour palette. Each room includes a round wooden coffee table, stylish lamps, and a ceiling fan overhead, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The living area is thoughtfully designed with comfortable sofas and tasteful wall art, adding a touch of elegance and warmth to the space. The king-sized bed was ultra-comfortable, and I loved having a private balcony to enjoy my morning coffee. The minibar was well-stocked (and restocked daily), and the bathroom had a jetted tub, which was a nice touch. Housekeeping did a great job keeping everything spotless throughout my stay. The only downside is that there are no elevators  in the villas, which can be a bit challenging for guests with mobility issues or those staying on the top floor. Dining Experience: A Mix of Buffet & À La Carte One of the highlights of Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda is its variety of dining options. The main buffet Caney was impressive, offering a great selection of international and Dominican cuisine. Breakfast was my favourite—fresh tropical fruits, freshly squeezed juices, pastries, and made-to-order omelets among others. Even though the buffet at Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda has a big variety of dishes, after a few days, it can start to feel a little repetitive. You might notice the same main options rotating, and while everything is tasty and well-prepared, it’s not unusual to start craving something different or more unique by the middle of your trip. That’s why mixing it up with à la carte restaurant reservations is a great idea if you’re staying for several days. For dinner, I tried a few of the à la carte restaurants . Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda offers access to an impressive selection of 13 à la carte restaurants . While some of these dining options belong to the neighbouring Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar—another luxury hotel within the same resort complex—guests of Esmeralda have full access to enjoy them as well. This gives you a diverse range of cuisines and atmospheres to explore during your stay, all within easy reach. The gourmet restaurant served beautifully plated dishes, while the steakhouse was a meat lover’s dream. Reservations are required for à la carte dining, so booking early is a good idea. You can make à la carte restaurant reservations  super easily—either through the hotel’s app  or by stopping by the reception desk. Both options are quick and convenient, so you can book your dinners without any hassle. TAÍNO Restaurant - Dominican Cuisine TAÍNO Restaurant is the perfect place to try some delicious Dominican food right at the resort. You’ll find tasty local dishes like mofongo, sancocho, fried plantains , and fresh seafood—full of Caribbean flavor. Naan Restaurant - Indian Cuisine Naan Restaurant is the spot to hit if you're in the mood for some delicious Indian cuisine . From fluffy naan bread to flavorful curries, rich biryanis, and savory tandoori dishes, they’ve got all the classics covered. Yurta Mongolian Restaurant Yurta Restaurant - Mongolian Cuisine Restaurant Yurta  is the place to be if you're craving some flavorful Mongolian cuisine . With a unique twist on traditional dishes, you can enjoy everything from stir-fried meats and veggies to savory noodles and rice bowls. The dishes are packed with bold flavors, and the laid-back atmosphere makes it a great spot to enjoy something a little different. During the day, it functions as a buffet , conveniently located near the beach, so you can enjoy a variety of dishes while relaxing by the sea. In the evenings, it transforms into Rodizio Restaurant , serving delicious Brazilian steak  with meats brought straight to your table, offering a fun and flavourful feast. Full menu here . Tequila Restaurant  is the perfect spot to indulge in traditional Mexican cuisine . From fresh guacamole  and crispy tacos  to zesty enchiladas  and flavorful fajitas , they’ve got all the classic dishes you crave. The vibrant atmosphere and bold flavors will transport you straight to Mexico, making it a fun and tasty dining experience. There were nightly shows with music and dancing, and during the day, activities like beach volleyball, dance lessons, and even some fun poolside games. The entertainment staff was energetic and made sure everyone had a great time without being too pushy. The Swimming Pools: Relaxation & Fun There are multiple pools at the resort, and they never felt overly crowded. One pool was more lively, with music and entertainment, while another had a quieter, more relaxing vibe. The swim-up bar was a favourite spot for many guests (including me!), serving up delicious tropical cocktails. If you prefer the ocean, the beach is just a short walk away, with plenty of loungers and palm trees for shade. Since this is a family-friendly resort , there's also a kids' water park  on-site! It's a fun and safe spot for the little ones to splash around and enjoy their own adventures while you relax nearby. Kids Water Park Final Thoughts: Would I Return? Absolutely! Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda offers a great balance of comfort, entertainment, and good service. While there were a few minor issues here and there, which can happen at any resort, overall, this place was a great choice for a vacation. No matter if you're traveling as a couple, with family, or even solo, there's something here for everyone to enjoy. The food, the pools, and the overall atmosphere made for a nice vacation. Hey there! It’s been a little while since my trip to Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana, but the experience stuck with me — so let’s talk about what it was really like. You know how some reviews just rave about everything, and you’re left wondering if they actually stayed there or were just trying to get a free trip? Yeah, this isn’t one of those. This is just me, sharing what I genuinely loved — and what made me go, “Ugh, really?” — so if you're considering booking a stay, hopefully, this post helps you get the full picture. First Impressions When we first pulled into the resort, I have to admit — it looked like paradise. Palm trees swaying, golf carts zooming around, and that warm Caribbean breeze that instantly makes you feel like you made the right decision. Check-in was pretty standard. Not super fast, but nothing awful. They handed us our welcome drinks (yes, please) and gave us a little map of the resort. And I quickly realized... this place is huge . Like, wear-comfy-shoes kind of huge. Which brings me to the good stuff. The Pros (aka what I really loved) 1. The Beach Was a Dream Let’s start with the obvious: the beach. It’s everything you’d hope for in a Caribbean vacation — soft white sand, clear turquoise water, and enough palm trees to shade you when you’ve had too much sun. It wasn’t overly crowded, and we always managed to find a couple of loungers, even mid-day. There were a few beach vendors walking around, but they weren’t pushy. I actually ended up buying a bracelet from one of them and had a nice little convo in broken Spanish. Vibes = immaculate. The Beach at Bahia Principe Punta Cana  2. Pools for Days There are multiple pools across the resort, so you can kind of pick your vibe. Want a chill, quiet pool? You got it. Want one with music, a bar, and a bunch of people dancing in the water by 3pm? Also an option. I loved that variety — especially on days when I wanted to switch from “zen” to “let’s day drink and pretend we’re 22 again.” Bonus: The pool bars serve up drinks fast, and they’re not shy with the alcohol. Be careful, though. Those fruity cocktails sneak up on you! Standard Room 3. Rooms Were Comfy The room was cozy and had all the essentials, though the style could use a bit of an update. The bed was big and comfortable, there was air conditioning that worked like a charm (thank God), and the balcony had a cute little view of the garden. It wasn’t ultra-modern or fancy, but it was clean and cozy. There was a mini-fridge stocked with water, sodas, and beer — all included. A small touch, but super appreciated after being out in the sun all day. 4. All-Inclusive Perks Ah, the magic words: all-inclusive . Honestly, this is why I booked this place. I didn’t want to think about money once I got there, and for the most part, I didn’t have to. There’s a big buffet that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Tons of food options — I’m talking everything from pancakes to paella to sushi. Is everything mind-blowing? No. But you’ll always find something you like. I especially appreciated the fresh fruit and the omelet station in the morning. They also have a few à la carte restaurants (more on that later...) and bars basically everywhere. 5. Entertainment & Activities There’s always something happening — from water aerobics to beach volleyball to nighttime shows. We caught a Michael Jackson tribute one night (don’t ask), and while it was a little cheesy, it was surprisingly good. The performers give it their all, and it shows. You can also book excursions right from the resort if you want to do something more adventurous, like ziplining or visiting Saona Island. We stuck to the beach, but it’s nice to have options. The Cons (aka what kinda sucked) Alright, now let’s get into the stuff I didn’t  love. No place is perfect, and I think it’s only fair to talk about the things that could’ve been better — because I know I appreciate honesty when I’m planning a trip. 1. Room Maintenance Was... Meh While our room was clean when we arrived, it didn’t stay that way consistently. Housekeeping skipped us one day, and when they did come, they kind of rushed through everything. One day we came back to find towels missing, and another time they forgot to restock the toilet paper. Also... ants. Not a full-on infestation, but there were definitely some tiny ones by the bathroom sink. We called and they sent someone to spray, but it was a bit of a buzzkill. 2. The Food Got Repetitive Remember that buffet I mentioned? It’s great at first, but by day 4, I was definitely craving something different. The options didn’t really change much day-to-day, and while there was  variety, the flavour didn’t always deliver. We tried booking the à la carte restaurants to mix things up, but that turned out to be a bit of a pain. You need to make reservations way  in advance — like, ideally right when you arrive. We didn’t know this and ended up only getting into one, which was fine but not life-changing. If food is a big deal for you, just go in with realistic expectations. 3. WiFi Was Barely a Thing Okay, this one annoyed me the most. WiFi only works good in the lobby, and even there, it’s super spotty. The Wi-Fi in the room isn’t the best—the signal can be pretty weak. I know, I know — “you’re on vacation, unplug!” And I tried, but I still wanted to send a few pics and check in with people. Not having consistent internet was more frustrating than freeing, to be honest. 4. It Gets Crowded This resort is big, but it also gets busy . If you’re not up early, you’ll probably struggle to find a good spot by the pool or beach. And some of the restaurants get packed fast. Also, the vibe can get a little party-heavy depending on the crowd. One night, we were kept awake by drunk guests yelling in the hallway at 1am. I’m all for people having fun, but I wish the resort staff enforced a little more quiet at night. Free Hotel Shuttle 4. The Resort is ... Huge! The resort is massive — so big that you’ll likely need to use the complimentary shuttle to get to the beach. Only a few lucky buildings are close enough to walk, but most are a good 10–15 minutes away. And with the heat and humidity, walking isn’t exactly appealing. Unless your room is near the shore, expect to rely on the shuttle. Would I Go Back? Honestly... maybe. I had a good time. The weather was perfect, the beach was stunning, and I came back with that relaxed, sun-dazed vacation glow that makes everything seem worth it. But would I go back to Bahia Principe Punta Cana specifically? Only if the price was right and I was going with a group who just wanted to chill without too many expectations. If you're big on food, quiet, or top-tier service, this might not be your dream resort. But if you're looking for a fun, affordable getaway with a beautiful beach and unlimited drinks, you’ll probably have a great time. Final Thoughts Every resort has its ups and downs, and Bahia Principe Punta Cana is no different. I’m glad I went — I made some great memories and soaked up a ton of sun — but I also left with a few “meh” moments I wouldn’t want to sugarcoat. If you’re thinking of booking it, my advice is: Make restaurant reservations as soon as you arrive (they fill up fast). Bring bug spray (trust me on this one). Don’t expect five-star luxury, and you won’t be disappointed. Pack some snacks—room service is limited, and late-night options are pretty basic. Claim your pool chairs early in the morning if you want a good spot. Download offline entertainment—Wi-Fi in the rooms isn’t the most reliable. Wear comfy shoes; the resort is big and you’ll be doing a lot of walking. A reusable cup or tumbler comes in handy for drinks by the pool. As you step inside, the bold colours of the lobby, paired with a plush red carpet, create a warm and inviting atmosphere. I was quickly escorted to my suite, and I couldn't wait to explore my temporary haven. The main pool is expansive, featuring a serene environment with clear, sparkling waters and plenty of space for both relaxation and recreational activities. There are also swim-up bars for easy access to refreshing cocktails while you float and bask in the tropical sunshine. The pools are surrounded by lush landscaping, adding to the sense of privacy and seclusion, perfect for those looking to relax in style. Dining: A Culinary Adventure The dining options at Joia Bavaro by Iberostar were a gastronomic delight. Each meal was an adventure, and I was eager to explore the variety of restaurants available. From elegant à la carte dining to casual buffet options, the resort offered something for every palate. Joia Bavaro has a super inclusive buffet Bella Vista that’s got something for everyone. Bella Vista Buffet The hotel also has a second buffet, La Perla , which offers a more relaxed, beachfront dining experience with beautiful ocean views. It’s a smaller, intimate spot serving fresh, flavourful dishes, perfect for a casual lunch by the beach. If you're looking for a laid-back vibe, La Perla is a great choice. À La Carte Restaurants: El Galeon Restaurant has the charm of an 18th-century galleon, with a stunning entrance that sets the tone. Inside, you’ll find a fascinating collection of antique artifacts displayed in beautiful windows, along with old barrels that add to the ambiance. The entire space feels like you’re stepping aboard a historic ship, complete with elegant stairs that evoke the feel of being at sea. El Tourbillon is a charming French restaurant with a unique clock-themed décor. Every detail is inspired by timepieces, from the various watch and clock brands adorning the ceiling to the intricate designs on the chairs and floor. It’s a delightful setting where time truly takes center stage. Le Tourbillon French Restaurant The Japanese restaurant is beautifully decorated in a traditional style, with intricate wood carvings and majestic dragon sculptures at the entrance. Inside, you’ll find impressive wooden doors, adorned with elegant carvings that add to the authentic and serene atmosphere. The restaurant also boasts several teppanyaki tables, offering a unique dining experience where guests can enjoy the art of cooking right before their eyes. La Tentazione Italian restaurant has a lovely fresco on the ceiling, along with columns, statues, and paintings that transport you to ancient Rome. The entire décor is beautifully done to give you the feeling of being in Italy from bygone times. La Tentazione Italian Restaurant The Spa Experience You can’t visit Joia Bavaro by Iberostar without hitting up the spa. It’s basically a peaceful oasis. I went for a full-body massage, and honestly, I’ve never felt so relaxed and pampered. The vibe was super calming, and the therapists were amazing—definitely an experience to remember. The Beach: Paradise Found The beach at Iberostar Grand Bavaro is a slice of heaven. The sand is soft and white, and the clear blue waters are perfect for a swim. There are plenty of loungers so you can always find a spot to relax and enjoy the view. Junior Suite at Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine Exploring the Resort This resort is the definition of paradise. With around 500 rooms, it’s big but still manages to feel relaxed. There’s lush greenery all around, and on the way to the beach, you’ll pass through a little jungle with a pond, where you can spot all kinds of exotic birds—it’s like a mini tropical adventure. The pool area quickly became my go-to spot. There were tons of loungers, swim-up bars, and a really chill vibe. I could easily spend the whole day here soaking up the sun and sipping cocktails. Cocktail on the Beach at Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine is located about 400 meters from the beach , so you can take a nice walk or just hop on the free shuttle if you’d rather get there quicker. There are designated shuttle stops along the main avenue, Avenida Bávaro, ensuring easy access from one place to another. I spent hours lounging by the sea and swimming in the warm, calm waters. The beach bar was perfect for grabbing a quick bite or a refreshing drink without even having to leave the shore. If you’re looking for something more active, there’s no shortage of things to do. They’ve got water aerobics, beach volleyball, dance classes, and even yoga. Dining Delights The food was definitely one of the highlights of my stay. Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine has a variety of restaurants to choose from, each serving up something different. The main buffet called Acuario had a great selection of international dishes, from fresh seafood to grilled meats and delicious desserts. They also do themed dinners, which made it fun to try different cuisines like Italian, Mexican, and Caribbean. There’s also a Beach Restaurant offering a variety of international cuisine, where you can savour delicious meals and refreshing drinks while taking in the breathtaking seaside views. Main Buffet ACUARIO For something a bit more special, I dined at a few à la carte spots. The resort has its own app  where you can easily book reservations at the à la carte restaurants. Or, if you prefer, you can also make them directly at the reception. The Japanese restaurant was a standout with its hibachi grills and sushi. The Mediterranean restaurant Capriccio was also amazing, with fresh ingredients and flavorful dishes. The resort has some great bars, too. I spent plenty of time at the lobby bar, enjoying creative cocktails and live music. The swim-up bar by the pool was a perfect spot to grab a casual drink during the day. Activities and Entertainment When I wasn’t by the pool or eating great food, I had so many things to keep me busy. The entertainment was on point, with nightly shows, live music, and themed parties. I also tried out some water sports like kayaking which were super fun and a great way to explore the coastline. Kayaking is free of charge, with one hour available each day to explore the waters at your own pace. Hoyo Azul, a natural cenote (sinkhole), located in Scape Park The resort also arranges excursions to nearby spots, and I took a day trip to see the natural wonders of Punta Cana, including a cenote. In the evenings, the entertainment team put on some seriously impressive shows, from musical performances to dance extravaganzas. Every night was something new and exciting. Relaxation and Wellness No trip to a resort is complete without some relaxation time, and I made sure to indulge. I treated myself to a massage and a facial at the spa, and it was just what I needed to unwind. The whole spa area was so peaceful, and the therapists really knew their stuff.The resort also has a great fitness center, with classes like spinning and Pilates, if you want to stay active during your stay. Punta Cana Exploring Beyond the Resort While the resort had everything I needed, I also wanted to see a bit of the local area. I ventured into Punta Cana to explore the markets, try the local food, and soak in the vibrant atmosphere. I also took a scenic tour of the countryside, which included a visit to a coffee plantation and a walk through some stunning landscapes. It was a great way to learn more about the culture and natural beauty of the area. Saying Goodbye When my stay at Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine came to an end, I felt a bit sad to leave. Not in a grand, dramatic way like Paris or Rome, but in a quieter, sneak-up-on-you kind of way. Lisbon was like that friend who doesn’t say much at first but ends up being the life of the party. From the hilly streets of Alfama to the breezy cruise along the Tejo River, here’s everything I didn’t expect about Lisbon—and why I absolutely loved it all. But until you’re halfway up a cobbled street in Alfama, panting like you just ran a marathon (you didn’t), you can’t truly appreciate what a leg day Lisbon gives you. I stayed in an old Airbnb tucked somewhere between three different staircases and two barely-drivable streets. But every time I reached the top of a hill, Lisbon gave me a reward: a sweeping view of terracotta rooftops, the Tejo River shimmering in the distance, or the sound of a street musician playing melancholic fado music. I didn’t expect to fall in love with walking. But here I was, treating every uphill slog like a pilgrimage to another gorgeous vista. What to see in Lisbon? Honestly, just start walking. You'll stumble onto everything. 2. Staying in Alfama Was Like Living in a Postcard (With Bonus Laundry Lines) Narrow Cobblestone Street in Alfama, Lisbon's oldest Neighbourhood My Airbnb was in Alfama, Lisbon’s oldest neighborhood. I’d read it was charming, but I wasn’t ready for just how charming. Think winding alleys that seem to loop back on themselves, pastel houses with chipped paint, and grandmothers yelling from balconies in a language I don’t speak but somehow understand. Because the buildings are so old, they’re not well insulated — which means street sounds drift in like you’re right outside. Cars, conversations, clinking glasses — they all become part of your soundtrack. And don’t expect modern comforts by default: many of these traditional apartments don’t have air conditioning. Even in early fall, Lisbon can get surprisingly warm, and a lone fan spinning in the corner doesn't always cut it — so definitely check before you book. And the laundry! Clotheslines stretch across buildings like colorful bunting for a neighborhood party. I felt like I was living in a movie, except the movie had no plot and featured a lot of uphill walking. Still, it was one of the best places to stay in Lisbon if you want authenticity and atmosphere. 3. The Trams Are Adorable (But Also a Bit Scary) I knew I had to ride the famous yellow Tram 28. What I didn’t know was that it’d feel like being on a rollercoaster built in 1930. It rattles, it squeals, it takes corners like it's trying to lose a tail in a spy movie. But it’s also absolutely worth it. Not just for the experience, but because it gives you a tour of some of Lisbon’s most beautiful areas without needing to do more cardio. (Bless.) São Jorge Castle Has the Best Views (And a Lot of Peacocks) I visited São Jorge Castle on a sunny afternoon, expecting a few ruins and maybe a view. What I got? One of the most breathtaking vistas of Lisbon and  a casual gang of peacocks strutting around like they owned the place. Sao Jorge Castle in Lisbon It was quiet, peaceful, and surprisingly green. I sat on the old walls, letting the breeze hit my face, watching the red roofs and white buildings cascade down the hills. I thought I was just ticking off a tourist attraction. Instead, I ended up staying for hours. 5. The Food Scene is About More Than Just Pastel de Nata Look, I love custard tarts. I had at least two a day, no regrets. But Lisbon’s food scene caught me off guard in the best way. Sardines on toast? Delicious. Grilled octopus? Life-changing. Even the soups like caldo verde , felt like getting a warm hug. I quickly fell in love with the seafood stews served in small cozy restaurants — rich, comforting, and brimming with flavor. Each bite tasted like the ocean met someone’s grandmother’s kitchen. Whether it was cataplana or caldeirada , there was something soul-warming about the way Lisbon does seafood.I didn’t expect to love the food so much that I’d start planning my day around meals. A Cruise on the Tejo River = Instant Relaxation Tejo River Booking a cruise on the Tejo River was one of my more spontaneous decisions, and I’m so glad I did it. Floating past Lisbon’s skyline, seeing the 25 de Abril Bridge (hello, mini Golden Gate!), and watching the sun dip behind the city was pure magic. There was wine. There were snacks. There were seagulls making dramatic entrances. I didn’t expect to enjoy it so much, but it turned out to be one of my favorite experiences in Lisbon. 7. Baixa Is Where I Felt Lisbon’s Pulse Baixa is downtown Lisbon, and while it's more polished than Alfama, it still had so much character. Big squares like Praça do Comércio , wide streets lined with shops, and cafés that are perfect for people-watching. The architecture is grand but not overwhelming — lots of neoclassical buildings with intricate tilework and just the right touch of faded elegance. I didn’t expect to spend so much time here, but it was the ideal contrast to Alfama’s maze. The symmetry and light made everything feel airy and elegant, like the city suddenly decided to slow down and breathe. It’s the kind of place where you can wander aimlessly, window shop, or just stand still and enjoy the rhythm of the city. Bonus: you can grab a seat at a sidewalk café, order a pastel de nata and a bica, and pretend you're a local who does this every day — no rush, no agenda, just soaking it all in. 8. The Weather Was Even Better Than Advertised I went to Lisbon early September, expecting mild sunshine. What I got was blue skies, breezy afternoons, and golden hour that seemed to last forever. You’ll visit a traditional Dominican plantation to learn about coffee, cocoa, and local customs — followed by a guided walk through Monkeyland , home to playful squirrel monkeys in the mountains near Punta Cana. Why it’s worth it: This tour was the perfect mix of education and pure joy. We got to see how cocoa and coffee are grown and processed the traditional way, meet locals, and even taste fresh products. Then came the main event: Monkeyland! The monkeys are super friendly and not shy at all — they literally  jump all over you. You're given a bowl of fruit, and as soon as you hold it out, the monkeys rush over and climb on your arms, shoulders, even your head. It’s chaotic in the cutest possible way and makes for a hilarious, unforgettable moment. And it doesn't stop there — after the monkey fun, you get to milk a cow and feed adorable baby goats! It’s such a wholesome, hands-on experience that kids and adults alike will absolutely love. 📵 Downside: You can't take photos or film during the monkey encounter — your hands are full, and the monkeys move fast. Plus, staff members are snapping professional photos, which you can purchase later. Also, before entering Monkeyland, we were asked to remove all jewelry like necklaces or long earrings, and to avoid bringing bags or food, as the monkeys are naturally curious and might grab them. 💡 Pro tip: Choose a tour that includes both Monkeyland and the cultural plantation visit — it gives the day more depth and context, not just the cute factor. Wear comfortable clothes, pull your hair back if it’s long, and keep your valuables locked up. And trust us: the photos they take are actually worth buying. But nothing—and I mean nothing —compares to seeing these prehistoric giants up close and personal. That’s exactly what I got to experience when I visited Jurassic World: The Exhibition  during its stop in Canada. Updates: Currently, Jurassic World: The Exhibition is open in Bogotá (Colombia), with a scheduled opening in Singapore on May 29, 2025, and another planned for Bangkok sometime in the spring of 2025. As soon as I arrived, I could tell this wasn’t going to be just another museum-style exhibit. They really went all out to recreate the feel of Isla Nublar . From the moment I walked through those famous Jurassic World gates, I was hit with a wave of nostalgia and pure excitement. Key highlights include: The Boat Ride Experience : Feel like you’re truly embarking on a journey to Isla Nublar, with realistic ocean sounds and views. Immersive Jurassic World Gates : Step through the iconic gates into a world filled with lush greenery, dinosaur roars, and incredible realism. The boat, designed to look like something you'd take to a tropical island, has small round windows that give you glimpses of the ocean as it passes by. Through those windows, you can see the calm waters of Isla Nublar’s coastline and the occasional ripple as the waves gently rock the vessel. The entire setup is incredibly well-done, from the attention to the boat’s details—like the weathered wood and ropes—to the realistic sound effects that transport you straight into the heart of the adventure. You can hear the engine hum softly as it powers the boat through the ocean, and even the sound of seagulls calling in the distance adds to the feeling that you’re cruising toward something exciting and mysterious. I remember leaning over the edge of the "boat" and peering out at the ocean, just waiting for what was about to come next. The occasional splash of water against the hull was a small, but welcome touch, making the whole experience feel more authentic. For a moment, I really felt like I was on my way to Isla Nublar, about to encounter something wild. The boat ride is a perfect way to set the tone for what lies ahead. It builds up the anticipation, slowly guiding you into the world of Jurassic World . You can almost feel the excitement in the air as you approach the island, knowing that you’re about to enter a land where dinosaurs rule once again. Once the boat ride simulation wraps up, you dock at Isla Nublar and are greeted by the iconic Jurassic World gates. This is where the real adventure begins. The towering gates open, and you step into a whole new world—one filled with lush jungles, the sounds of distant dinosaurs, and the thrill of seeing creatures from the past come to life in front of you. The stage is set for an unforgettable journey into the world of dinosaurs. Facing the Dinosaurs Up Close Now, let’s talk about the real stars of the show—the dinosaurs. They had life-sized animatronic dinosaurs throughout the exhibit, and they were shockingly realistic. The first one I encountered was a Brachiosaurus , and its sheer size was incredible. The way it moved, the gentle swaying of its neck and the deep, rumbling sounds it made, had everyone around me (myself included) pulling out their phones to capture the moment. As I made my way through the exhibition, I saw other fan favourites like the Stegosaurus , Triceratops , and of course, the king of them all—the Tyrannosaurus rex . The T-rex encounter was designed to be a show-stopping moment. I had my camera rolling as it came to life, letting out a terrifying roar that literally made some kids scream (and honestly, a few adults jump back). It was one of those moments you just can’t fully appreciate until you see it in person. Filming My Experience One of the coolest things about attending this exhibition was having the chance to film my entire experience. The organizers were super accommodating about visitors capturing their own content. I made sure to document each section of the exhibition, from the intricate dinosaur models to the interactive displays. The lighting throughout the exhibit was carefully designed to enhance the realism of the dinosaurs. In some areas, it was dimly lit to make you feel like you were trekking through a jungle at dusk, while in others, spotlights highlighted the massive creatures with dramatic flair. Shooting footage of the dinosaurs in motion was both thrilling and a bit challenging. They move so fluidly that it’s easy to forget they’re animatronics. The T-rex in particular had a way of moving that made it seem genuinely alive. I definitely got some killer shots of that beast roaring right at me. Be sure to check out the video of my experience here . Educational Displays and Interactive Elements One thing I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I did were the educational displays. They had these interactive stations that broke down the science behind dinosaur recreation, from genetic engineering to paleo-diet studies. It was like a mini-science fair in the middle of a blockbuster movie set. What surprised me most was how engaging and hands-on these displays were. Instead of just reading plaques or looking at diagrams, you could actually interact with the exhibits. There were touch screens that let you explore the DNA structure of dinosaurs, stations where you could “feed” a dinosaur based on what scientists believe their diets consisted of, and even holographic displays showing how embryos were supposedly engineered in the labs of Jurassic World . I even tried my hand at the Raptor Training Program , which was inspired by the scenes featuring Owen Grady from the movies. It’s a simulation where you learn how to "train" Velociraptors using commands and hand signals. Sure, it’s mostly for fun, but the realism of it was impressive. The Velociraptors reacted to my "commands," snarling and shifting their heads as if they were genuinely following my lead. The trainers there played along perfectly, adding to the whole experience. It felt like I was part of a real raptor training session—Owen Grady style. If you're wondering about the things to do at Jurassic World exhibition , these interactive features are definitely a highlight. They added depth to the experience, making it feel like more than just a spectacle. It was genuinely informative, and I found myself learning quite a bit while having fun. If you're testing your dinosaur knowledge or stepping into the shoes of a trainer, there's plenty to keep you engaged beyond just admiring the life-sized dinosaurs. Escape Jurassic World: Dinosaurs on the Loose! As you make your way through the exhibition, the excitement ramps up towards the end when you experience a thrilling scenario—two dinosaurs have escaped! As I was filming, trying to capture the animatronic raptors snapping and snarling, one of the guides suddenly shouted, “Watch out! It’s loose!” Now, I knew it was all part of the experience, but in that split second, my heart jumped into my throat. I stumbled back, nearly dropping my camera, and I could hear nervous laughter and a few genuine shrieks from the crowd. rangers, working quickly to control the situation, start communicating with each other over walkie-talkies, urging visitors to hurry and evacuate the park before the dinosaurs cause more chaos. The raptor wasn’t actually loose, of course. It was part of a clever little stunt designed to get our adrenaline pumping. But the way the staff played it off, all serious and urgent, was just perfect. It made the whole experience feel so much more real and immersive. And judging by the looks on everyone else’s faces, I wasn’t the only one who got totally fooled for a moment. It’s little touches like that—those playful, unexpected moments—that made the exhibition so much more than just a series of dinosaur displays. I’m really glad I caught that part on camera, because watching it back later had me cracking up.The way this was coordinated was truly impressive. It wasn’t just a random event; it felt like you were right in the middle of a Jurassic World  emergency. The rangers’ sense of urgency, the frantic conversations over the radios, and the immersive chaos around you all added to the adrenaline-pumping experience. It was like stepping into a live-action movie scene, and I couldn’t help but feel both excited and a little nervous as the dinosaurs roamed nearby! Atmosphere and Crowd The exhibition was definitely popular. There were families, couples, and groups of friends all buzzing with excitement. The vibe was friendly and upbeat, and I even overheard a few people planning their own YouTube videos or TikToks based on their visit. But despite the crowd, everything was well-organized. The staff did a great job of keeping things flowing smoothly and ensuring everyone got a chance to enjoy each part of the exhibit without feeling rushed. Why You Shouldn’t Miss This Exhibition If you’re a fan of the Jurassic World  series or just love dinosaurs in general, this exhibition is a must-see. The combination of entertainment, education, and pure spectacle makes it worth every penny. Plus, if you’re into creating content like me, it’s a goldmine of photo and video opportunities. As of now, I know the exhibition is heading to Basel, Switzerland  and Bogotá, Colombia , but if it ever comes back to Ontario, I’d be the first in line to see it all over again. Arrival: A Warm Welcome to Historic Bologna Narrow Street in Bologna's Old Town Arriving at our Airbnb in Bologna felt like stepping into a living postcard. The old house, nestled in the cobblestone streets of the city’s historic center, was everything we’d hoped for and more. The check-in process was smooth and charming—our host met us with a friendly smile and a brief tour of the house, giving us tips on where to find the best local eats and sights.   The House: A Blend of Old-World Charm and Modern Comfort   Let’s talk about the house itself. From the outside, it’s the quintessential old-world beauty: a historic façade and those classic, shuttered windows. Stepping inside, you’re greeted with an atmosphere that’s both quaint and sophisticated.   Interior Highlights:   1. Living Spaces : The living area was a cozy haven with vintage furnishings that perfectly complemented the house’s historic character. The living room features beautiful wooden beams, which are original to the house since it was first built. I loved how, during the renovation, they chose to preserve these historic details, keeping the charm of centuries past. The mix of old and new elements creates a unique atmosphere—full of character, yet with all the comforts of today. It’s that perfect blend of history and modern style that makes the apartment feel so special. There were comfortable couches perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring, and the room was decorated with a mix of antiques and modern touches. Cozy Living Room 2. Kitchen : The kitchen was a delight—a charming space with rustic wooden beams, a lovely old-fashioned stove, and plenty of space to cook up some Italian recipes. The kitchen was small but beautifully organized, featuring a rustic tiled floor  that added to its charm. We didn’t have time to cook, but it was definitely inviting, and if we had stayed longer, we could have whipped up some delicious Italian recipes. Instead, we took advantage of the fantastic restaurants nearby, only using the kitchen for having breakfast in the apartment before heading out to explore. Kitchen Master Bedroom 3. Bedrooms : Each bedroom was like its own little retreat. We had a s pacious master bedroom with large windows that filled the room with natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The blend of historic charm and comfort made it a perfect place to unwind. The second bedroom  was just as charming, with its own unique character and a cozy bed that made for a restful night’s sleep.  I really loved the ceiling, which had a roof-like shape , painted white with beautiful wooden beams . It gave the room so much character! It was probably an attic in the past, later converted into a cozy bedroom with its own small bathroom, making it a unique and charming space. Second Bedroom 4. Bathrooms : The bathrooms combined historic aesthetics with modern conveniences. We had a beautifully tiled bathroom with a fantastic shower and vintage fixtures that added a touch of elegance. Terrace Terrace: The apartment also had a small terrace, perfect for enjoying breakfast, a quick snack, or evening drinks. It was a lovely spot to relax and spend time with friends or family, soaking in the atmosphere of the historic surroundings.

Sedona, Arizona, is one of those magical places that you hear about but can’t fully appreciate until you experience it yourself. With its towering red rock formations, energy vortexes, and stunning desert landscapes, it’s no wonder Sedona draws millions of visitors each year. Sedona's Red Rock Mountains But before you go, there are a few things I wish I had known to make the trip even better. If you’re planning a visit, here’s what you need to know to avoid common mistakes and make the most of your time in this beautiful desert town. 1. Timing is Everything I thought visiting Sedona anytime would be amazing, but I quickly learned that season and time of day matter a lot. Spring (March-May) and fall (September-November) offer the best weather, but they’re also the most crowded. If you want to avoid the tourist rush, aim for early mornings or weekdays. Summer can be brutally hot, especially if you plan to hike, while winter brings cooler temperatures and even occasional snow, which looks breathtaking against the red rocks. ✅  Best Tip:  If you’re visiting in peak season, get up early to hit the trails before the crowds and heat set in. 2. Parking Can Be a Nightmare Sedona is small, and parking fills up fast, especially at popular hiking spots like Devil’s Bridge  and Cathedral Rock . I wish I had known about the Sedona Shuttle —a free service that takes you to some of the busiest trailheads. ✅  Best Tip:  Arrive before 7 AM to get a parking spot or take the shuttle to avoid the hassle. 3. The Vortexes Are… Different for Everyone Sedona is famous for its energy vortexes, areas believed to have heightened spiritual energy that can inspire healing, creativity, or a deeper sense of connection. Popular vortex sites include Bell Rock, Airport Mesa, Cathedral Rock, and Boynton Canyon . I was excited to feel something profound, but honestly, the experience was different than I expected. Some people describe feeling tingling sensations, warmth, or even a surge of inspiration and clarity. Others talk about experiencing a deep sense of peace or emotional release. On the flip side, many visitors—myself included—feel nothing out of the ordinary. And that’s perfectly okay. Even if you’re not spiritually inclined and just curious, the vortex sites are undeniably beautiful places to explore. Bell Rock’s striking red spires , the panoramic views from Airport Mesa , or the serene trails winding through Boynton Canyon  offer their own kind of magic. The landscape itself is captivating enough to make a visit worthwhile, even if you don’t have a mystical moment. Ultimately, I found that it’s more about the journey and the beauty of Sedona’s natural surroundings than chasing a specific experience. And who knows? Sometimes the peace you’re looking for comes from simply being in nature and soaking in the breathtaking views. ✅  Best Tip:  Keep an open mind! Feeling the energy or not, the views are worth it. 4. Not All Trails Are Beginner-Friendly Sedona has hikes for all levels, but some trails that look easy on paper are deceptively challenging. I assumed Devil’s Bridge would be a quick, straightforward hike, but the last section involves scrambling up rocks, which can be tricky if you’re not used to climbing. The natural sandstone steps are uneven and steep, and getting to the iconic bridge itself requires careful footing. Similarly, Cathedral Rock is a short hike in terms of distance, but it’s far from a casual stroll. The trail requires climbing up steep rock faces with sections that feel almost vertical. You’ll need to use your hands to pull yourself up in certain spots, making it more of a climb than a hike at times. The effort is worth it for the breathtaking panoramic views at the top, but it’s definitely not a “walk in the park.” It’s important to be prepared and realistic about your skill level. Some trails are more demanding than they seem, especially if you’re not accustomed to Sedona’s rocky, uneven terrain. Bring plenty of water, wear proper hiking shoes with good grip, and be ready for a bit of scrambling even on shorter hikes. ✅  Best Tip:  Research trails carefully and check All Trails for difficulty levels before heading out. 5. The Food Scene is Better Than Expected I wasn’t expecting much in terms of food, but Sedona surprised me! There are amazing restaurants with breathtaking views. My favourite? Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill —not only for the delicious food but for the panoramic red rock scenery. From the moment you walk in, the floor-to-ceiling windows showcase sweeping views that make every meal feel special. Their menu is a blend of South American-inspired dishes, beautifully presented and packed with flavour. The grilled meats, fresh seafood, and handcrafted cocktails are all top-notch. But honestly, it’s the atmosphere that elevates the experience. Watching the sunset paint the red rocks in golden hues while enjoying a great meal is something I didn’t expect to find in such a small town. Sedona’s food scene has so much more to offer, too. From cozy cafes and organic eateries to upscale dining with views, there's something for every palate. It’s worth taking the time to explore—you might just find a new favourite spot. ✅  Best Tip:  Make dinner reservations in advance, especially for places with a view. 6. Bring More Water Than You Think You Need Sedona’s dry climate dehydrates you fast, even if you’re just walking around town. I made the mistake of bringing one water bottle on a hike, only to run out halfway through. A hydration pack or at least two bottles per person is a must. ✅  Best Tip:  Carry more water than you think you’ll need and bring electrolyte packets if you’re hiking. 7. Accommodations Book Up Fast Sedona is a small town with limited hotel options, and prices can be shockingly high during peak season. I wish I had booked earlier to get better deals. There are also some fantastic Airbnbs and resorts if you plan ahead. Besides traditional hotels, there are also some fantastic Airbnbs and luxury resorts if you plan ahead. Resorts like Enchantment Resort  and L’Auberge de Sedona  offer upscale amenities with incredible red rock views, but they fill up fast. Airbnbs can be a great alternative, especially if you’re looking for something more private or unique. From cozy cabins tucked away in the wilderness to stylish modern homes with panoramic vistas, there's a wide variety of options—if you book early enough. It’s definitely worth doing some research and reserving your stay well in advance to lock in better rates and more choices. If you’re visiting during high season, even budget-friendly motels can be pricey, so planning ahead can make a big difference. ✅  Best Tip:  If you’re visiting during spring or fall, book your stay at least 3-6 months in advance  for the best selection and prices. 8. Sunsets Are Next-Level (But So Are the Crowds) Watching the sunset over the red rocks is a must-do in Sedona, but the most famous viewpoints can feel more like crowded attractions during peak hours. Airport Mesa  is one of the go-to spots for sunset seekers thanks to its elevated views of the entire town and surrounding rock formations. However, the small parking lot fills up quickly, and it’s common to find tourists jostling for the best views as golden hour approaches. Red Rock Crossing  is another favorite, especially for capturing the iconic view of Cathedral Rock reflected in Oak Creek. The scene is stunning, but expect to share it with plenty of other photographers and visitors. If you want a more peaceful experience, consider exploring lesser-known spots like Rachel’s Knoll —a privately-owned but accessible area that offers sweeping views of Boynton Canyon. It’s quiet, serene, and perfect for those looking to soak in the sunset without the crowds. A small fee is required to enter, but it’s well worth it for the tranquility. Another beautiful yet often overlooked location is the Crescent Moon Picnic Area . While parts of it can be busy, especially near Oak Creek, you can find quieter spots along the trails or grassy areas where you can relax and watch the sunset paint the red rocks in warm hues. For an even more secluded experience, consider venturing out to the less-visited Doe Mountain Trail  or Sugarloaf Summit —both offer panoramic views without the heavy foot traffic. Just be sure to bring a flashlight if you’re hiking back down after dark. If you want a more peaceful experience, consider Rachel’s Knoll or the Crescent Moon Picnic Area . ✅  Best Tip:  Arrive at sunset spots at least 30 minutes early to claim a good spot. 9. It’s More Expensive Than You’d Think From food to hotels to Jeep tours, Sedona isn’t exactly budget friendly. Even some hiking trails require a Red Rock Pass ($5/day or $15/week)  for parking. While there are plenty of free things to do, costs add up quickly if you want to experience everything. ✅  Best Tip:  Budget for parking fees, guided tours, and dining, or look for free activities  like exploring Oak Creek Canyon. 10. You’ll Want to Come Back I originally planned for just a two-day trip , but I quickly realized that wasn’t enough. There’s so much to explore—hiking trails, vortex sites, scenic drives, and day trips to places like Jerome or the Grand Canyon . ✅  Best Tip:  If possible, plan for at least 3-4 days  in Sedona to fully enjoy its beauty without rushing. Final Thoughts Sedona is truly one of the most breathtaking places I’ve ever visited. Knowing these things in advance would have saved me some headaches, but even with a few surprises, the trip was worth it. Grand Canyon West had been on my travel bucket list for ages, and finally getting the chance to explore Eagle Point, Guano Point, Hualapai Village, and the famous Skywalk all in one day was nothing short of epic! From breathtaking views to cultural experiences and adrenaline-pumping moments, this adventure had it all. Arriving at Grand Canyon West The drive out to Grand Canyon West was exciting in itself—beautiful desert landscapes stretching for miles and that feeling of anticipation building with every passing minute. Stockton Hill Road stretches north from Kingman all the way to the Hualapai Grand Canyon West area. Along the way, you’ll pass through parts of the Mojave Desert dotted with farms and ranches. As you keep driving, the scenery starts to shift — the road climbs into higher ground with rugged bluffs and beautifully eroded mesas. It’s a pretty cool drive if you’re into desert landscapes! As soon as I arrived, I could tell this wasn’t your typical Grand Canyon experience. Managed by the Hualapai Tribe, Grand Canyon West has a special charm and authenticity to it. Eagle Point at Grand Canyon West First Stop: Eagle Point I kicked things off at Eagle Point, and wow—it lived up to its name! The rock formation that resembles an eagle with outstretched wings is just incredible. You have to see it in person to really appreciate the scale and detail. Plus, the views from this spot are just jaw-dropping. Red rock cliffs dropping straight down to the Colorado River below… it's the kind of scenery that makes you just stand there in awe for a while. The Skywalk was right there too, and I couldn’t resist. Walking out on that glass bridge, suspended 4,000 feet above the canyon floor? Yeah, it’s as thrilling as it sounds. Seeing the canyon stretch out beneath your feet is both terrifying and breathtaking at the same time. If you’re a bit of an adrenaline junkie like me, it’s a must-do. It’s one thing to see the canyon from the rim, but it’s a whole other experience to feel like you’re floating above it. Unfortunately, they don't allow filming or taking personal photos on the Skywalk for safety and privacy reasons. So, while I couldn’t capture the experience on video, I did get some official photos that were totally worth it. I spent some extra time at Eagle Point just wandering around and soaking in the views. There’s also a Native American Village exhibit that showcases authentic dwellings from various tribes, giving visitors a glimpse into their architectural styles and ways of life. It was fascinating to see how different tribes adapted to their environments over the years. Hualapai Tribe performing a Traditional Dance While I was there, I was lucky enough to witness a beautiful traditional dance and music performance by the Hualapai people. It was held under a large tent set up right next to the canyon’s edge, and the sound of drums and singing echoing through the open air made the moment feel incredibly special and immersive. Hualapai Village Exploring Hualapai Village After Eagle Point, I wandered over to Hualapai Village. It’s a cool spot that offers a glimpse into the rich culture and history of the Hualapai Tribe. I checked out some traditional dwellings, watched performances, and even picked up a few handcrafted souvenirs. It felt genuine and welcoming—like the Hualapai people were really excited to share their heritage with visitors. One of the highlights was chatting with some of the locals about their craft-making techniques. Their passion for preserving their culture was inspiring, and I couldn’t resist buying a few pieces to take home as souvenirs. It’s nice knowing that my purchases were supporting local artists directly. Guano Point The Views at Guano Point Next up was Guano Point, and if you’re into panoramic views, this place is pure gold. I followed a little trail that led me out onto this narrow ridge with 360-degree views of the canyon. Seriously, you can see forever from up there. It’s a bit rugged, but that’s what makes it so special. Nothing between you and the view but open air. Guano Point  is one of the most breathtaking spots in Grand Canyon West , known for its dramatic scenery and unmatched 360-degree panoramic views. This rocky outcrop juts boldly into the canyon, offering visitors a chance to stand at what feels like the edge of the world. Guano Point at Grand Canyon West At the center is a natural pyramid-shaped hill  that you can climb for even more spectacular vantage points. Once at the top, you're treated to sweeping views of the Colorado River  winding its way through the canyon far below, framed by the rugged cliffs and layered rock formations that stretch out for miles in every direction. Picnic Tables at Guano Point At Guano Point, you’ll find picnic tables set just a few feet from the edge of the Grand Canyon — offering absolutely stunning, and slightly thrilling, views while you take a break. Unlike more polished viewing areas, Guano Point retains a raw, untouched feel. There are no railings or paved paths here—just nature in all its powerful beauty. It's the perfect place to take in the vastness of the Grand Canyon, capture incredible photos, or just sit quietly and let the view sink in. Guano Point also has some fascinating history. It was once the site of a mining operation for bat guano (yes, bat poop!), which was considered valuable fertilizer. You can still see remnants of the old tramway system they used to haul the guano from the caves across the canyon. It’s a cool little piece of history that adds character to the location. I spent way too much time just taking pictures and soaking it all in. And yeah, it’s one of those spots where photos really don’t do it justice. The colours, the depth, the sheer vastness of it all—it’s something you have to experience firsthand. Wrapping Up an Unforgettable Day By the end of the day, I felt like I had seen so many sides of Grand Canyon West—natural beauty, cultural heritage, thrilling attractions—all in one adventure-packed visit. Eagle Point and the Skywalk were definitely the highlights for me, but Guano Point and Hualapai Village added so much character to the experience. If you’re planning a trip to Grand Canyon West, definitely make time for all three points. Each one offers something totally unique. And if you’re like me, you’ll leave with a camera full of photos and memories that’ll stick with you forever. Tips for Visiting Grand Canyon West Wear comfortable shoes ! There’s a lot of walking and some uneven terrain, especially at Guano Point. I saw a few people wearing sandals struggling to keep their footing, so definitely wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes or hiking sandals  with good grip. It’ll make your experience way more comfortable (and safer) when navigating the rocky climbs and loose gravel. Bring water and snacks , especially if you’re visiting during the warmer months. The Skywalk doesn’t allow personal cameras or phones, so be prepared to pay for official photos if you want a souvenir shot. Take your time ! There’s so much to see and experience, you’ll want to soak it all in. Consider spending the night nearby so you can enjoy a sunrise or sunset view of the canyon. It’s absolutely magical. Plan Ahead & Book Tickets Early : Grand Canyon West can get busy, especially during peak travel seasons. Purchase your tickets online in advance to save time and secure your preferred entry slot—especially if you want to do the Skywalk. Use the Shuttle System: Once you arrive, take advantage of the free shuttle buses that run between major points like Eagle Point, Guano Point, and Hualapai Ranch. They’re efficient and save energy for exploring instead of walking long stretches in the sun. Pack Sun Protection: Even if it’s not summer, the desert sun can be intense. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses to stay protected while enjoying the viewpoints. Bring a Good Camera or Binoculars: While you can't take photos on the Skywalk itself, there are plenty  of other photo-worthy spots! A camera with a zoom lens or binoculars also makes it easier to spot wildlife or unique rock formations across the vast canyon. Be Prepared for Wind: It can get very windy  at the rim, especially at higher elevations like Guano Point. Dress in layers and secure any hats or loose items—you don’t want them flying into the canyon! Start Early in the Day: Arriving earlier helps you avoid crowds, take advantage of cooler temps, and get the best lighting for photography. Plus, you’ll have more time to explore all the stops without rushing. Bring Some Cash or a Credit Card: While most places accept cards, it’s good to have cash on hand for small purchases at local vendors or tipping guides if you join a tour. Learn About the Hualapai Tribe Before You Go: The land is owned and operated by the Hualapai Tribe. Taking a few minutes to read about their history and culture beforehand adds so much depth to the visit and helps you appreciate the experience even more. Check Out the Gift Shops and Artisans: There are beautiful handcrafted items made by local Native American artisans—great for meaningful souvenirs that support the community. Final Thoughts Grand Canyon West surpassed my expectations. It’s such a different experience compared to the National Park’s South Rim, and I loved how the Hualapai Tribe’s influence is woven throughout the attractions. From the thrilling walk on the Skywalk to the breathtaking views at Guano Point, and the cultural immersion at Hualapai Village, this trip had everything I could’ve hoped for. Would I do it all over again? For sure! And next time, I’d love to catch a sunset from Guano Point. That view must be incredible. I’d also seriously consider staying overnight in one of the Hualapai cabins  nearby. Spending the night on the rim of the Grand Canyon sounds like such an exciting, one-of-a-kind experience.
